In order to actively contribute to the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ID Finance Mexico has launched the “Contigo” Volunteer Program. This project seeks to generate synergies between the company, its employees and the community through a set of activities where all employees can participate and volunteer with their time, skills and talents.
According to World Health Organization’s report “Disability considerations during the outbreak of COVID-19” people with disabilities may be disproportionately affected during the pandemic due to disruptions in services and support networks.”
Therefore, focusing on the most vulnerable communities that have been affected by the pandemic, ID Finance in collaboration with Serendipia and Ilumina, donated computers that had been adapted so that children and teenagers with vision impairment can use them.
These computers will allow them to have access to information, complete their studies, influence their work and personal independence and, therefore, will have an important impact on their self-esteem. Leslie Sanchez, director of the “Contigo” Mexico program, mentioned that “we are not looking for isolated, one-time actions, but for the construction of actions that, no matter how small they may seem, change people’s lives”.
The program will be rolled out to other branches of ID Finance to strengthen and encourage the organization’s social actions in each of the countries it operates.
